I don't know what the issue was.
Honestly I really don't care.
Issues handled by politicians are all the same because they're all rooted in two basic agenda:
(a) How will this vote benefit me and my political career? and,
(b) What is the least political damage I can do to myself when I am forced to make a decision?
That's what the modern political system has mostly boiled down to in the United States.
It doesn't matter the office ... City Council or Congress ... Judicial or official ... Executive or decorative ... they're all the same.

Spend thousands of donated dollars to broadcast another commercial to get themselves elected ...
Spend hundreds of donated dollars on signs to pollute buildings, yards and even banners in the sky ...
Name buildings and roads after one another because nobody else will ...
Show up to get their picture in the paper for damn near anything ...
Vote themselves raises because they can ...
Get free parking at the airport ...
Hell they get free parking everywhere!
Anyway when these things happen and they're shoved down our throats on the nightly news... we just want to head butt the shit out of every elected official and call them an "Asshole!"

That's as much leadership as we have in this country these days.
