A Very Fine Time

Making our way from the fire pit in the back yard into our living room, the guitars came out and we made music.

Che, our two year old, immediately grabbed her purple instrument taking a seat beside Eric on the sofa.

Our home was full of food and friends.

Laughter and conversation float in the night.

The music begins.

People meander in and out to listen.

Requests are made for favorite songs.

The tipsy talk loudly with fast paced words.

Our girls disappear with their boyfriends.

Che wraps herself in her blanket and drains a bottle listening to the songs.

It's a fine way to start the Thanksgiving celebration.

Of course it was Sarah's idea to make this rental house ours and after the paint, we built a fire pit in the backyard for occasions like this.

A very diverse and eclectic gathering have one thing in common ... each is someone we enjoy. Without us, it's doubtful they would have ever met and I find myself humbled and appreciative it's a night of joy.

Drinks are downed, food is consumed in small clusters of conversation, the fire glows yellow and orange in the darkness and the music blesses everyone.

For the first time in a long time, Sarah and I and the girls are traveling away to celebrate ourselves, our survival, our blessings, the excitement of new beginnings as Maddie soon leaves for College and we enjoy the change that is life.

There is no better way to express thankfulness than to make it with those who bring you joy ... eating, drinking, laughing and making music.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Enjoy everything about it!

Even the tipsy ones who talk about the craziest things ... give thanks for them too ... because everyone needs a little more craziness in this life.
