My friend Dr. Jim Withers recently posted, "Now we're down to hours between mass shootings - not days. Pray for our people. Pray for change."
Since then a man stormed a Georgia courthouse ready to do more carnage but was killed after only wounding one.
In Atlanta a woman kills her husband in a Kroger before killing herself.
Down to hours indeed!
We watch it on the news with a detached objectivity, a sad acceptance of disbelief such things happen and a prayer of thanks it's no one we know.
The religious among us pray for our people and pray for change but things stay pretty much the same.
Politicians make promises, increasing funding for police departments, build more prisons to lock the problem away but nothing makes a difference.
Most just go about there business, getting on with our lives with some conviction there's not much we can do anyway because crazy people are going to do crazy things.
What do you do?
Honestly, we're not there yet as a people to address things like mass shootings, needless deaths, homelessness, corrupt health care systems, greedy leaders and selfish religions.
Our hearts aren't broken.
"When all the broken hearted people living in the world agree there will be an answer ... then they will be an answer.
But not until then.
As bad as things are ... our hearts aren't broken yet.
Nothing much is going to happen until then.
