It always feels like Christmas on Tybee Island!
That's because the city forgot to take down all of the decorations from Christmas.
Between 14th and 15th Streets on Butler Avenue, also the Korean War Memorial Highway, nearing the end of Highway 80, you'll find one Christmas boat still hanging.
It still lights up at night and everything!
I'm not sure if this was planned by the City or not to leave a wee bit of the Holiday Spirit year round on this clump of sand but I like it.
Yesterday I was driving past City Hall and read the flashing message on the electronic sign welcoming visitors to the island.
"PAY TO PARK!" is the warm fuzzy that greets everyone.
There's plenty of time to look for a parking place because so few people come to the island this time of year.
Well, unless you're on 12th Street where all of the parking spaces have been done away with and replaced by yellow curbs. There's no parking there even for the people who live there.
Not to worry! There are three large parking lots on the island and in the winter everyone has plenty of "Pay to Park" options.
Should the lots be full though, visitors still have plenty of time to search for parking though because of all the Stop Signs on the island.
Apparently another town went out of business and Tybee got a bargain on its signs. You can hardly go anywhere on the island without stopping. Of course we want people to stay and now it takes a really long time to leave once you're here.
It's all good though.
I'd still rather be here except for those times I'm not.
