A Bar Becomes A Church

Worship in bars is typically seen as scandalous!

But each Sunday morning in Benny’s on Tybee Island we gather to give glory to God the best ways we know how ... and to celebrate each other ... or just to find some comfort there.

Traditional church left us wounded and lost. Many lost their religion but still need a place to feel accepted.

A collection of individuals transforms to a magical community of spiritual holiness and love, where everyone is welcomed.

A bar becomes a church.

We wish everyone could experience it for themselves because words do not do it justice.

Many out of town guests join us and continue to come worship with us on their vacations.

There's no dress code, we don’t give tithing envelopes, we don’t make visitors wear nametags.

We just open our doors, lay a potluck breakfast on the pool table, and do our best to share God’s love to all who come.

And we hope that one day soon you have the opportunity to be with us.

We rarely ask for anything because the focus is on God, praise, healing and community.

Most who come can't afford to tithe much ... working as waitresses, Bartenders, cleaning vacation condos, doing maintenance and landscaping ... but they do!

Their giving covers about 1/3 of the costs of keeping God in a Bar.

As this ministry continues to grow and ... it's growing ... we have to cover the costs!

We are aiming to have only two fundraisers a year and ask for you to help us with our first one of 2015.
