"It couldn't get no worse," John Lennon replied.
They were both right of course. The most popular musicians of modern history, cultural icons and incredibly successful ... they had achieved everything. And felt trapped by it all. It wasn't fun any more. Fame, fortune and success wasn't everything it was cracked up to be.
They were both right.
That's life though right? There is always a duality, ying and yang, lightness and darkness, good and bad. It's how you look at them. It's always a matter of perspective.
It's an absolutely beautiful day. Brilliant blue skies, warm ocean breezes, choirs of birds and people strolling on the beach are all smiling.
And Sarah's sick, laying under the covers in bed as I sit here working and doing my best to keep Winston, the little gay dog, away from her. He'll jump up beside her and keep her awake.
I hate it when she doesn't feel well, is off kilter or things just aren't going right. When you love someone like I love her, you never want things to not be perfect. This is especially true when I'm feeling terrific, loving life and have dancing feet.
There's just something not right about it.
But it's the way life works sometimes.
If I could take her sickness away from her and carry it for her, I would.
Alas, I can't.
It'll be alright. We're like the Beatles in a way. The music we make together is beautiful even when everything else may be slightly off in the world.
