I was dancing with Sarah, Judy and Wen and we were in Doc's Bar.
I can multitask with the best of them.
We were in a huddle of sorts, arms around each other and swaying to Roy singing "Beach Music" songs.
It's a warm Spring night on the next to the last day year and the "family" is celebrating.
We started off at Bernie's so we could listen to Samuel Adams, who plays damn good live music on Tybee Island, do an acoustic set. It didn't last. Gordon Hill, who plays the best mouth harp ever, showed up and joined him. The family sat there laughing and enjoying one another.
Then for some reason we lost our collective minds and wandered into the "Geriatric Ward" also known as Doc's. But the music is good and the drinks are cheap and we danced.
What a year it's been!
Last year at this time United States Homeland Security forced me to leave St. Martin and spend New Year's Eve at home. I was in a perpetual state of shock. But ... the family was coming together then. Cheryl, Jodee, Johnny O and Judy O, Dedra, Samuel and of course Sarah ... throughout the year we were born.
The actual birth was the week after my birthday in Julie when they all threw a birthday party, the likes of which the island has never seen ... and that's saying a lot given this island!!
Since then ... it's been this moveable feast!
God have we had fun!
Then we adopted Seana and Wen ... maybe they adopted us ... who cares ... they're in!
It's not all about the parties though. The changes that we have been through ... and the ones we are still going through ... well those are the ties that bind us all. Every single one of us is either going through or has just been through ... deep shit.
But God we love each other!
And God has given us ... NOW.
And She has given us one another ... NOW.
And sometimes you know when God is being active.
So ... on behalf of the family I want to thank God!
I love these people with everything inside of me.
