Looking Forward

"Looking forward, all that I can see is good things happening to you and me ... I want to live like a free roaming soul on the highway of our love."

The wooden music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young fill this Christmas Eve morning on the Beloved Back Deck. A fire is in the Chimania to knock off the slight chill of the morning. The ocean sings carols of Good "Tides" of Joy and Cheer. All is calm and bright this morning. Goddess loves the fire and snuggles next to it.

Aromas of stew cooking fill the house on the other side of the sliding glass doors. Inside Christmas music is softly playing. The tree is lit with colored lights and the kids stocking hang though they themselves are all scattered to and fro on the face of the earth. It is a warm and inviting view and it is only slightly warmer inside than out but the sun is just starting to climb above the Palm Trees.

Last night night we went wassailing, meaning that we went to a gathering of dear friends though we didn't do any caroling. So we did shots instead. There was a spread befit of good King Wenceslas, story telling, gift giving and ... then "da kiddies" got drunk and caused a scene but what's Christmas without a little drama. But then again we live on an island. There's drama everywhere.

This morning is holy and bright. It's the first time in seven years that I've been here for Christmas and ... it's nice. I miss St. Martin and my friends there. I could use the additional twenty degrees that is there but this is pretty damn nice too.

I think God sees all of this and decides to say something to me. So it was Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young that pops up on Pandora on this glorious Christmas Eve, with a fire blowing smoke, and they bring prophetic greetings from on high.

"Looking forward all that I can see is good things happening to you and me ... I want to live like a free roaming soul on the highway of our love."

Then the sliding glass doors burst open and the roaming soul hits the road.
