As ... whoever wrote 1 John proclaims... and it wasn't John who was long dead by the time these words were written... pulls off the most incredible slight of hand of them all.
Written in classical Greek ... a very methodically language ... it should be logical ...
"Beloved if God so loves us then we should love ... GOD!"
That's what it should say.
And that's how most people believe.
After all it so damn much easier to love God than it is other people.
To Hell with other people!
They are pains in the ass and I hate lots of them.
BUT ...
well ... if whoever wrote 1 John is right ... and I suspect he ... or probably she is ... then you love God by loving others.
And if you're just loving God ... in your Church ... in your Home ... with your Bible ... in your own way ...without loving others ... I hate to break it to you ... but you're going to Hell.
In fact you're probably already there.
No wonder the author of I John decided to lay low and remain anonymous.
It's way too radical for God to prefer adoration by loving something other than ... GOD!

But I think that's what makes God ... GOD.
