A Birthday Wish Back

When you're not used to it, the avalanche of good wishes, notes, songs, calls, hugs and kisses are as deep as the Ocean.

It began with a baby calling for "DA!" as I cuddle with my wife, who whispers, "Happy Birthday."

A few minutes later, I stroll into the Breakfast Club where Caroline Boulineau Bodaforde and Dani Reber kiss me on both cheeks as I hold Che who joins in making it a Trifecta.

At Bar Church, Sam Sahr leads the congregation in worst God Awful version of "Happy Birthday" ever sung in public.

My grandson Ethan sends a video blowing me kisses and singing me a much better version than the Church crowd could muster.

Afterwards, Maddie Lingenfelter, Laurel Lingenfelter and Cassidy Lingenfelter greet me with hugs and kisses and we munch Onion Rings and French Fries for lunch.

Then ... I take a nap.

Naps are wonderful gifts.

Che takes me for a walk when I wake to give her Mom a break, leading me through Tybee's combat zone where everyone calls her by name, gives her free suckers or Gold Fish.

Back home Sarah Elliott, Cass, Che and I play in the pool until my real present arrives and my wife and I find ourselves alone.

I'm hoping for skinny dipping+ but she's all business talking about ... business.

Supper consist of Pizza for the girls and fresh Seafood for me.

My son Jeremy Elliott Face Time's me, Kristen Elliott calls and Chelsea Harris text messages.

AnneMarie Conner calls to sing Happy Birthday in Polish ... something you don't experience much in America.

Eventually the girls fall asleep so Sarah and I cuddle on the sofa, watching shows we like until it's bed time.

I get lucky.

"Mind if I read?" she asks afterwards.

I snuggle and happily fall asleep.

What a wonderful birthday! Thanks to everyone of you who interrupted your day to help make mine.

Holy Christ!

I can only say such things when you're completely overwhelmed by the love and good wishes sent my way.

Thank you all!
