Standing in the need of prayer

I'm worried that Bar Church is becoming too corporate.

Oh it still meets in a Bar, has breakfast for those who need it, great music, a terrific spirit and encourages smokers and flip flops.

Psalmist Samuel Adams is now assisted by fellow Psalmist Stephen and Minister Joe.

All of that 's good.

This is what concerns me.

Forever, if you needed prayer you'd call Sam and leave a message.

You never actually got Sam because he never answers his phone.

He doesn't return calls either, leaving it to God to assure you that you're being prayed for.

I like it this way!

Sam doesn't try to be the middle man between you and God like most ministers do.

All of this may go by the wayside now because Bar Church has a 24 prayer line that will be answered by a live Psalmist Stephen, Minister Joe and members Angie, Susan and Danny, Ann and Lisa. Bar Church now guarantees someone will answer the phone when you call for prayer.

I have a visual in my head. Psalmist Stephen is at his job running the Sugar Shack and is frying French fries when his cell phone rings. It is someone needing prayer immediately. Stephen closes eyes, prays, burns the French fries, cusses when he realizes it, and then asks the person who called for prayer to pray for him.

Now I love Stephen and have since before he was a Psalmist.

I do not want him to burn French fries or himself as it would effect either the Sugar Shacks bottom line or his excellent guitar playing.

I'm sticking to the old ways.

When I need prayer, I'm calling Sam directly who will not accept or return my call.

Instead Sam will leave it to God to get back to me directly.

Now I think I'll beat the after church crowd at the Sugar Shack and head on up there now ... before Psalmist Stephen has a chance to burn the French fries.

Oh ... and Amen!
